Introduction
In the past, Penghu Development Hall was the former Prefectural Mansion of Penghu County, which was also the mansion of the head of the county after the liberation of Taiwan. Construction was finished in Year 10 of Showa (March 10, 1935). Similar to the Penghu Prefectural Hall, it was a typical Japanese construction with a combination of Japanese and foreign styles, with a solid structure, elegant design and a quiet garden. In Year 81(1992) of the R.O.C., the old house was retired,
and in Year 88 of the R.O.C. (1999) the county government decided to rebuild it according to the original style with the purpose of changing it into the Penghu Development Hall. It is the first stop for learning about Penghu and a place for cultural experience, rest and sightseeing in Penghu. |
