Introduction
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, supervised by Penghu County government and conducted by Dongwei Civil Primary School in Magong City, the Local Teaching Resource Center of Penghu County began its construction on November 1, Year 87 of the R.O.C.(1998) and was formally opened on August 1, Year 88 (1999) of the
R.O.C.
The purpose of establishing Penghu Local Teaching Resource Center is to provide teaching resources for teachers and students in Penghu; familiarize them with the environment they are living in, help them recognize and learn to love their homeland; foster their concern, feeling and responsibility for their homeland.
The location of this center is in the Dongwei Civil Primary School in Magong City. The center consists of two exhibition halls and a library.In the local cultural hall are one hundred poems on the beauty of Penghu and other cultural relics related to local diet, clothes, housing,traffic, education, entertainment and other traditional industries. In the ocean hall, there are collections of shells, fish, rocks and traditional fishing gear in Penghu and pictures concerning Penghu such as the overall map of the Pescadores, pictures of tidal activities, pictures of tides and local proverbs. In the local library, there are various books on local geography, local history, local nature, local language and local arts and teaching materials about all the counties of the country, local teaching materials about Penghu and self-composed teaching materials from each school in the county. |
